Agree to disagree.

Are you on Pinterest yet? If not, then you are missing out on an amazing opportunity to waste hours and hours of precious time. Recently, I came across a pin that many of my friends had added to their pin boards (confused by this Pinterest lingo? Go here for a brief explanation). I also added the pin and promptly received many inquiries about it. Did I agree? Disagree? What would I add? So here, my lovely friends, is my take on "The Best of MAC."

Eyeshadows

Jest: A really great basic peach with lots of shimmer. Great by itself or with other shadows. My personal pick for this purpose would be All That Glitters, which is a little more gold and can go with many more skin tones.

Sable: Really pretty on the bottom half of the lid for a brown smokey eye. I don't love it in the crease because it is very frosty and doesn't give much definition.

Blanc Type: A perfect cream that goes on like butta (forgive the pun). It's very matte so it works well in all capacities. However, since it is a little light, I tend to go more for Orb instead.

Carbon: If you want a basic matte black, this is for you. You can blend it out for more of a grey look or layer it on for to be blacker than black. For me, black is harsh for everyday, so I prefer to do a dark smokey brown. My choice is Handwritten.

Cream Color Base in Pearl is an easy way to get a subtle glow on the high planes of your face (cheekbones, forehead, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow). You can also use it for an eyeshadow base so it's really versatile.

MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural is definitely my pick for MAC powder. If you are going to get a MAC powder, go for one in the mineral collection. You won't be disappointed.

Blush in Fleur Power may not be my absolute favorite blush, but it is definitely in the top 5. This matte peachy pink blush gives just the right amount of color for perfectly flushed cheeks.

Underage Lipglass is a classic. If you are looking for a pale pink, this will be your everyday go-to. If you don't like the sticky feel of Lipglass, try the Cremesheen in Fashion Scoop.

Pro Longwear Concealer is MAC's newest concealer and I will NEVER use anything else. This stuff is amazing. It's lightweight, dries quickly and doesn't crease under the eyes. It also has a 14 hour wear so it literally lasts all day.

MAC Face & Body Foundation is a cult favorite, but I have to admit, I never really got into the trend. They only sell this foundation at free standing MAC stores so I never wore it. However, it is water resistant and surprisingly lightweight, so it definitely has great components. My favorite MAC foundation is Studio Moisture Tint.

Lipstick in Creme d'Nude is extremely popular. We never had it in stock so I didn't get to play with it much. If you are looking for a very pale lip (think concealer-light), this will do the trick. I prefer a little more color, so I would suggest Hue because it is a little less chalky and has more of a pink tint to it.

Products they left out of the list that should be there:
Blacktrack eyeliner
Lingering eyebrow pencil

There you have it, kids! My professional (hehe) opinion on some of MAC's most popular products.

What's YOUR favorite MAC product??

Emmy's 2011

Can you believe it's already that time again? Time for us to pick apart Emmys fashion! {squeal!!} The only thing better than this would be actually going to the Emmys... sigh. But don't worry if you didn't watch all 16 hours...we'll break it down for you.

The best, beautiful and worst of the Emmys according to H & C.

THE BEST

H's Choice was Nina Dobrev wearing this red hot Donna Karan gown. She puts the "vah" in VIXEN. The fit, the color (which was everywhere), the accessories. This definetley gets my style award for the night! This girl knows how to wear a dress!!

C's pick is the lovely Lea Michele in Marchesa. I DIE. I love love love the shoulders, the open back, the hair, the makeup, the minimal accessorizing. I think she looks perfect. Plus, so on trend with the red dress! {I wonder if they all knew that a million stars would also show up in red gowns?}

Honorable Mentions:

A close second for H. I DIED when I saw Nancy O'Dell {ET host} in this dress. The earrings? Are you kidding me? This looks is perfection.

I love this Calvin Klein pick for Katie Holmes. While it isn't extremely fancy by any means, I think she looks great. I REALLY wish she would have accessorized with some giant chandelier earrings to spice it up a little. But still a great look for her.

Don't shoot the messenger, but Kelly Osbourne has never looked so glam! I am obsessed with this J. Mendel frock. I also love her accessories. She gets negative points for the hair though (grey-blonde never has been a good look.)

Remember Julia Stiles? Ya, me neither. But she showed up in this lacy Georges Hobeika Couture gown and all eyes were on her. The lilac hue is so unexpected for fall, and her lack of accessories actually make the whole look better! (I can't believe I am saying that...)

Christina Hendricks. I LOVE the dress. But...I could have done with a little less CLEV if ya know what I mean. During interviews 'the twins' were tucked away but red carpet comes and BAM...in your {her} face. Other than that little/big glitch I think her hair and makeup and porcelain skin look gorgeous.

WORST

H's pick for the worst of the night...Gweneth Paltrow in Emilio Pucci. The little see-through section was just not working. It had a sheer over-lay -which I didn't realize at first- and thought her tummy resembled that of what I imagine Betty Whites' looking like. The top looks like the majority of my Forever 21 shirts that have shrunk into toddler size. Sorry Gwen, maybe had I seen you in real life {where was my invite?} you wouldn't have gotten such a terrible review.

Oh, Jules. Go home. Just turn around and go home. Your ruddy Santa Claus complexion mixed with the Pepto Bismol dress is enough to send me into early labor.

C's other pick for worst dressed was Dianna Agron. I'm not sure what kind of polyester blend fabric this is, but the horrible color only makes it look worse. I'm all for cobalt, but this is electric blue on drugs (and I'm hoping this is a hallucination.)

Who was YOUR favorite?

Who was the WORST?

Venice Film Festival

I'm itching for awards season, and all the fashion critiques that come with it! Luckily, the Venice Film Festival just wrapped up a few days ago and the stars were in fine form (both for praising and for mocking). Think of this as a warm-up exercise for the Emmy's on Sunday! (Can't hardly wait!)

First is best (and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.)
Jessica Chastain in Elie Saab. LOVE this dress. The color is perfection for her. Plus, I'm kind of all about The Help right now (Jessica plays Celia Foote in the movie.) In fact, I can't stop saying this to my son (in my most impressive southern drawl):
(sorry for the sidebar)

Back to fashion...
Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada. DIE over the bow.

Keira Knightley in Mary Katrantzou
and Valentino Couture

Diane Kruger in Elie Saab (who, by the way, is having a fantastic night of fashion with his dresses!)

And now for the odder choices of the evening:

Kate Winslet in a optical-illusion Stella McCartney dress.
Odd is a good word for it, right?
It's like that one time she was photoshopped to half her actual size. But she's doing the photoshopping with this dress. Do I need to cross my eyes and a hidden image will appear?

Salma Hayek in Gucci Premiere
Um...when did she get so skinny? She is kind of channelling a bobble head at this point. I feel neutral about the dress.

Madonna in Vionett
This looks literally scares me. She looks exactly like she did in A League of Their Own. But not in a good way. Also, did she get those sunglasses at Party City?

do not disturb

Who's excited for new fall shows?!

I can't wait to see :

Rachel Bilson
in

I've been hearing good things about this show {from E! news} Very excited.

Ginnifer Goodwin
in

Christina Applegate and Will Arnett
in

AND
Zooey Deschanel
in

For the sake of DVR overload I hope that none of these shows make my 'must watch' list. Although I've gotta have SOMETHING to do whilst my hubby studies his life away. And I tell myself that as a hair stylist and administrator of TBM I need to stay in the know. Are there any other yummy looking shows out there I need to know about?

pregnancy potions.

Let's be honest: we all need help getting through pregnancy. It takes a village, right?!

Lately I can't be bothered to put liquid foundation on my face (even if it is just a tinted moisturizer). In fact, I am barely (and begrudgingly) putting moisturizer/spf on in the morning. This baby is makin' me lazy.

Luckily, I have found a product to incorporate into my routine that give my skin the flawless look without the need for a daily dose of liquid foundation! (Are you listening?!)

We all know how I feel about face powder. I hardly ever recommend it unless oil is dripping from your skin while you are begging me to put it on. For reals. But I was introduced to a fantastic product recently that changed my mind--and get this: it's a face powder!!

MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder-Pressed. This colorless, weightless powder instantly photoshops your skin. You can use it before or after your foundation or on its own. It has special optics in it that blur your skin so it looks super flawless, smooth, and rids it of obvious shine and imperfection. Sounds dreamy, right?! It seriously makes my heart smile. And so does the price: a mere $23!

Other things that are getting me through?

Bright and cheery nail polish (loving OPI's Hot and Spicy)

Goldwell's Top Whip mousse to give my life-less hair some body

MAC Opulash mascara and it's 15-hour wear
Homemade chocolate pudding with homemade whipped cream (yup.)

I can tell you what is making this pregnancy harder.
H being one million miles away. Misses her face.

Here's where I have to reach out to our TBM readers--does anyone have an amazing Lactic acid exfoliant they use? I prefer to use chemical exfoliants, but the only one you can use while pregnant is Lactic. Any ideas or suggestions?
