rompie romp romp

I love me a good romper. Something about it just reminds me of the good ol' days. And plus, I feel like the one piece shape can be so flattering. My recent inspiration comes from Stella McCartney's line of jumpsuits and rompers.
Dear Stella, please be my best friend. And thanks for bringing the romper back in style. Now please make more affordable versions for yours truly. -C
I'm not gonna lie. I love the Olsen twins. And I will always deny that they are in any way involved in drugs/alcohol/eating disorders. So don't try and convince me. And I know you can't deny Mary-Kate in this outfit.

K, but seriously, why is it so hard to find a romper that is not daisy-duke-short?? That was my dilemma that I decided to conquer a few months ago. I recently started learning how to sew {more on that another day} and I had been wanting to make myself a romper for forever. I went to the internet and found me a good vintage (1970's) pattern {since apparently they do not make modern romper patterns. lame.} My mom helped me sew it and I think it turned out cute!! Ya? There is also a dress version of the pattern that's like the romper but a dress and I am fixin' on making it in gray. Die.
{accessories by Forever 21, tights by Target, shoes by Jessica Simpson}

Here are some other rompers I am enjoying lately. They are all too short (drat!) but they would be darling bathing suit cover ups!

WWII

Weekend Wardrobe 2.0 that is.
Ever since Court told me about this fabulous idea I've been having some anxiety about posting a "self portrait" of yours truly for the whole world to see. But I'll have to get over myself and just have fun with it. And so for your viewing pleasure I give you...

Cardigan: Last Chance (originally BP)
Silk Shirt: Gap Sale (thank you very much)
Belt: F21

And the cutest little shoes: Gap Sale
(still two sizes too big, but had. to. have. them.)

"weekend wardrobe"

Hillary and I are starting a blog addition where each weekend we take a photo of ourselves and say what we are wearing, where we got it from, etc.

{We are, of course, assuming people care}.

I am hoping that my wardrobe cooperates and provides suitable, blog-worthy outfits each week. We shall see.

Without further ado...
Last night's outfit was a combo of Nordstrom jeans, {you will come to realize that jeans are not something I bargain with. Everything else will usually be on sale} my new Gap tank, an Old Navy belt, Gap cardigan, and customized "D" necklace in mustard yellow from this lovely lady.

french-inspired everything

today (and always) i'm in love with french-inspired everything

ok. can we talk about how much i LOVE downtown phoenix for a second?
Paris Envy. Melrose Vintage. figs. Rust and Roses.
they are all up and down 7th Avenue and are absolutely fabulous.

Miss Dior Cherie.
love the scent. love their ads even more. i want to hang them up all over my house.

Vincent's Market Bistro
we went for lunch and it was quite lovely. i'm always looking for a new spot and would definetly recommend it. after 11 they give complimentary desserts! although if you take your man there...please forewarn him that portions are small.

a friend introduced me to their Market that is open Saturdays in the parking lot. They set up booths with imported French goodies and have a Brick oven pizza making deliciousness from 9am-1pm until May. Just talking about it makes my mouth water.
SERIOUSLY. GOOD.

Hair Style

Doing hair is something I am so passionate about. I love being able to make people feel good about themselves, love the fashion aspect of it, and love looking for the next new trend.
With that I give you...

this week's inspiration.

Jessica Beil's hair on the cover of Marie Claire.
Love her soft barely-there highlights. So feminine.

We also need to give a nod to Jen's shiny do, but mostly because we just love her.

Photography DO

I might be an incy wincy bit biased...but can we agree that these are the cutest pictures ever? Court and I have both had Larry take our family pictures and can attest to his amazing abilities. If you're in the 480 and need a fantastic photographer this guy comes highly recommended.

Color me happy

When I worked at MAC, I only wore bright lipstick colors. Like hot pink, bright orange, or red. I never get to do that anymore and it makes me sad. But, I came away with a wealth of knowledge about the BEST bright colors to buy!
Wanna know the secrets? Keep reading.

Orange is kinda scary but it is probably my favorite of the brights. I used to wear (all these colors I will suggest are MAC) Morange everyday. But for those of who who get scared off by crayola-type brights, I recommend Eager or Vegas Volt (I have a mixture of the two on in the picture). If orange lipstick makes you feel nervous, try a variation with peach. It looks good on everyone!! (Sandy B or Color me Coral)

Red is a hard color to get right. Since I have such fair skin (you didn't notice? Oh, well I am considered pale, weird huh) I like to go with a deeper red (Viva Glam 1 looks best on everyone). In the picture I have on Russian Red, which is super universal. Don't go too orange or blue based unless you are a little more adventurous.

Pink is a fun color to play around with. My favorite pink is Mauvelous, but I just realized it was discontinued! So sad. So I suggest Girl About Town or Show Orchid. (Or just buy Beet lipliner and finish off with any pink gloss).

My last tip for bright lips is... always wear a primer so it doesn't bleed (Prep and Prime lip works great). And the most universal lip liner I LOVE is Half-Red. I put it with every lipstick... pink, red, and orange!! Now, if I could only get Hudson to agree to let me wear bright lips again!!

Lovely Finds

Life isn't always fair but sometimes the stars align and you find yourself with a perfect pair of Jeffrey Campbell Flats. Arguably the most comfortable shoes on the planet. And what makes it so special is that I found them at Last Chance. I love the rush you get when you find a treasure amongst the muck. And with the addition of two other pairs of lovelies... I've basically hit a trifecta.

bulls eye.

Target is my go-to. For everything. I go there at least three times a week even if I don't need anything. Here are some recent purchases that are perfection.

Hello there vintage inspired 70's dream dress. You look even better in person than in photos. You go perfectly with my Forever 21 accessories and you look more expensive than your $24.99 price tag (It also comes in red! I own them both...) Nicole Richie would love you and I do too.

Die over this cardigan for baby. And love the price. I have been asked several times where I got it so here is my secret! But why oh why do they only have it up to 9 month size? Dumb. But I am in a forgiving mood because it is so fantastic.
And, no, I'm not too shy to post photos of my adorable baby on here. You wouldn't be either if he was yours (and he owned the aforementioned cardigan.)

I'm Drooling...

You betch-ya bottom dollar that these will be on my babies little feet as soon as the postal service gets it in gear

I also have a small obsession with Amy Butler fabrics. Found this pillowcase dress on ETSY. To. Die. For.

Petti-skirt for baby. Are you kidding me? Five hundred yards of chiffon? Yes, please!

Love these Vintage Barbie Prints from Posh Tots. They would be hanging all over my baby's room if I were a rich girl. I try my hardest not to look at the site because I undoubtedly find something I have to have but can't afford.
